Biography
Deo Joyeuse Ufitese Mulima holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Agricultural Economics from the University of Rwanda, College of Agriculture, Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. Her academic background provided her with knowledge in agricultural policy, marketing, rural development, and sustainability, which she applies to improving rural livelihoods.
Currently, Joyeuse is serving as a CorpsAfrica Rwanda Volunteer in Musanze District, Kinigi Sector, Nyonirima Cell, Gahisi Site(village). In this role, she works hand in hand with local communities to co-design and implement projects that address malnutrition, education, health, WASH and foster local economic led development. Using Human-Centered Design and Asset-Based Community Development approaches, she ensures that every initiative is sustainable and community-owned. With her community, she has implemented different projects including “Irish Potatoes Seeds Production with Piggery farming” where the project is growing and generating income to the youth group and also implemented sheep farming (sheep distribution) some by the community itself and others funded by CorpsAfrica in the Graduation program, all of these foster economic development and strengthen food security.
Earlier, she gained professional experience at Greencare Rwanda Ltd, where she contributed to producing organic fertilizer and advancing sustainable agriculture. In addition, her long-standing service as a Scout sharpened her leadership, problem-solving, and community engagement skills.
Passionate about empowering women and youth, Joyeuse is committed to fostering resilience and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through grassroots development.
