Biography

Bitaniya Tesfaye Muluneh is a Surgical Nursing graduate from the University of Gondar and a CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia Volunteer passionate about healthcare access, women’s empowerment, and sustainable rural development.

Her commitment to serving others began during her university years, when she became involved in community initiatives alongside her studies. As a project fundraiser for a Team Training Program, she helped mobilize resources to rebuild and improve a local school latrine facility. This experience strengthened her belief that meaningful change can begin with communities coming together around a shared need.

After graduating, Bitaniya gained clinical experience working in private hospitals while also volunteering her time to provide free medical services at federal hospitals in Addis Ababa and Harar. These experiences deepened her understanding of the importance of accessible healthcare and strengthened her desire to contribute beyond clinical settings.

Today, Bitaniya serves in the Sidama Region, within the Leku Cluster at Konsoro Anno Kebele. Through CorpsAfrica, she is learning to approach development by listening to residents, identifying existing community strengths, and working alongside youth and women to turn local ideas into sustainable solutions.

By bringing together her healthcare knowledge, experience in community service, and passion for empowering others, Bitaniya hopes to contribute to a healthier and more resilient community. For her, volunteering is an opportunity to use what she knows while remaining open to learning from the people she serves.
