Mariam Musah
Volunteer
Biography

Mariam Musah is a nutritionist and community development enthusiast from Tamale in Ghana’s Northern Region. She holds a BSc in Community Nutrition from the University for Development Studies.

Mariam has always had a heart for helping people, especially women, girls, and young people. Before joining CorpsAfrica, she worked in different roles that allowed her to support and encourage others. During her National Service at Savelugu Municipal Hospital, she worked as a nutritionist, helping people understand how to make healthier choices. She also volunteered with Hereafter Ghana, where she took part in community activities on health, hygiene, sanitation, and healthy living.

Her passion for helping young people grow has also led her to mentor young girls and women. Through her work with FEAD-Ghana and Eduvision Ghana, she has encouraged young people to believe in themselves, set goals, and work towards their dreams.

Mariam’s desire to serve her community is what brought her to CorpsAfrica. Interestingly, she applied to join the program twice and was not selected. But she did not give up. She was determined to try again for a third time because she believed that serving communities was something she truly wanted to do. Her persistence eventually paid off when she was selected as a Cohort 5 Volunteer.

Mariam also has an interest in technology, and she is a data analyst as well as a software developer. She loves teaching and mentoring others and hopes to use her skills and experience to help young people discover their potential.

For Mariam, making a difference does not always require doing something big. Sometimes, it starts with kindness, patience, and a willingness to help someone else.

In her words: “Service is not about how much we give, but about how many lives become better because we chose to serve.”
