Biography

Innocent Nsengiyumva is a community development practitioner, youth leader, and communication professional with strong experience in grassroots development, volunteer coordination, and community empowerment. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of Rwanda, earned in 2019, with a focus on journalism and communication. His professional journey combines experience in communication, data management, youth leadership, and community-led development.

Innocent began his career as a journalist with Iriba24 and later served as a Public Relations intern at Ngororero District. He also worked as a Mobilization Officer with Rwanda Youth Volunteers in Community Policing and served as Vice Coordinator of the National Youth Council in Ngororero district, where he contributed to youth empowerment, civic participation, and local leadership.

Since joining CorpsAfrica in 2022, Innocent has served as a Volunteer in Nyamagabe, Rusizi, Huye, and currently serves in Rulindo as a Volunteer Liaison. Through these roles, he has led and supported initiatives in savings groups, agriculture, animal husbandry, youth entrepreneurship, digital literacy, water access, poverty graduation, and business coaching. He has worked closely with communities to mobilize local assets, strengthen self-reliance, and support sustainable livelihoods.

His experience includes project monitoring, facilitation, reporting, stakeholder engagement, and training individuals and groups in entrepreneurship, mindset change, and community-driven development. Innocent is also experienced in data management, public speaking and building partnerships that strengthen local impact.

In addition to his field experience, he has completed professional training in youth leadership, public policy participation, and transformative leadership through institutions including Never Again Rwanda, MINUBUMWE and African Youth Leadership Forum.

Innocent is passionate about serving communities, empowering youth and women, and promoting practical, locally led solutions that create lasting change. His work is driven by a strong commitment to leadership, inclusion, and building resilient communities capable of shaping their own development.
