Biography
Joana Duodu Owusu is an experienced and adaptable professional with a strong background in community-led development and waste management. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Energy and Natural Resources.
Prior to her current role, Joana served in the first Cohort of CorpsAfrica/Ghana. During this time in the Central Region, she undertook several impactful projects, including training women and girls in soap making, facilitating career guidance for Junior High School pupils, and developing a “Gari Mix” product from cassava with community members. Her primary project involved renovating an old structure to function as a teacher’s bungalow and a nursery school.
Before her exchange volunteering in Ethiopia, Joana further supported CorpsAfrica/Ghana as a Partnership and Philanthropy Intern. She also gained valuable skills in waste management and plastic recycling through her volunteering service with Recycle Up Ghana.
Currently, Joana is an Exchange Volunteer in the Third Cohort of CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia, bringing her expertise in project management and community mobilization. Known for her results-oriented and self-motivated approach, Joana is an apostle of change, creative, innovative, and possesses excellent leadership skills, including mobilizing and managing youth organizations. She thrives in team environments, easily adapts to new roles, and is inspired by children.
