Biography
Sohna Sanyang is a Development Practitioner, Communications Professional, and Climate Change Advocate committed to empowering communities and advancing sustainable change. She holds a BA in Development Studies and brings extensive hands-on experience in community development, climate change adaptation and advocacy, green entrepreneurship, and digital communications.
She currently serves as an Exchange Volunteer with CorpsAfrica/Ghana, after serving in the inaugural cohort of CorpsAfrica/Gambia, where she led community-driven projects using Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Asset-Based Community-Led Development (ABCD) approaches. Her projects focused on environmental sustainability, women’s empowerment, and youth economic engagement.
Sohna has also contributed her expertise globally. She worked as Social Media and Multimedia Manager at Planet Cents and now serves as a Communications Intern at the Global Alliance for a Sustainable Planet (GASP), where she leverages storytelling, media, and outreach to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In addition, she is the Communications Manager for the CorpsAfrica/Gambia Alumni Network, amplifying impact through strategic storytelling, alumni engagement, and community outreach. Alongside her development career, Sohna is also an entrepreneur, reflecting her passion for innovation, resilience, and inclusive growth.
