Biography

Anne Simkonda is a Social Work graduate from DMI-St. John the Baptist University with a passion for community development, youth empowerment, and helping people improve their living standards. Her academic background has strengthened her understanding of social issues, community needs, and the importance of involving people in decisions that affect their lives. She believes that every community has strengths, knowledge, and resources that can be used to create positive change when people work together.

Anne has experience in community engagement through her work as a Programme Officer Intern with the Youth Forum for National Transformation (YOFONAT), where she participated in activities involving youth mobilization, facilitation, and report writing. These experiences have strengthened her interest in working with people, understanding their challenges, and supporting them in identifying practical solutions. She enjoys interacting with community members, learning from their experiences, and creating opportunities for people to share ideas and work towards common goals.

Driven by her passion for making a difference, Anne joined CorpsAfrica/Malawi as a Volunteer, where she hopes to grow both personally and professionally while contributing to community-led development. She is particularly interested in youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and initiatives that help communities recognize and use their available resources to improve their livelihoods. Through her service, she looks forward to learning from the people she serves, building meaningful relationships, and working alongside community members to develop solutions that respond to their needs and aspirations.

Anne is excited to learn from fellow CorpsAfrica/Malawi Cohort 10 Volunteers, embrace new experiences, and put her knowledge of social work and community development into practice. She sees this journey as an opportunity not only to serve but also to listen, learn, and better understand communities. She hopes to contribute to sustainable change by encouraging participation, supporting local initiatives, and recognizing the ability of people to shape their own development.
