Biography
Ayo Smart is a CorpsAfrica Volunteer and youth development practitioner with a strong passion for education, youth leadership, and sustainable agriculture. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from the University of The Gambia and a Graduate Certificate in Integrated Agricultural Farming from the Gambia Songhai Initiative.
During her academic journey, Ayo demonstrated dedication, discipline, and a commitment to learning, actively participating in campus activities and contributing to student organizations. She also engaged in leadership and community service, completing programs such as the BELLA Master Youth Leadership Program and the TAF Leadership Academy, and serving in initiatives that strengthen youth participation and local development.
Ayo gained practical field experience through her role as a Community Garden Technician Intern with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), where she supported sustainable gardening practices, worked directly with local communities, organized educational activities, and contributed to improving garden productivity and food security. This experience strengthened her skills in community engagement, teamwork, and participatory development approaches.
Following her academic and technical experiences, Ayo has continued to develop her leadership and professional skills, applying them to support locally driven projects and community-based initiatives.
