Biography
Ndey Isatou Sowe is a passionate young lady, community development practitioner, climate advocate, and emerging social entrepreneur from The Gambia. She has hands-on experience in climate change advocacy and environmental conservation, with a strong focus on sustainable, community-led solutions.
She serves as the Focal Person for the Anti-Deforestation Organization, where she supports tree-planting initiatives, mangrove restoration activities, and trains women in the production of organic compost as an environmentally friendly alternative to harmful practices. Through this work, she promotes climate resilience while empowering women economically and strengthening local livelihoods.
Ndey Isatou is also the founder of Sowecamara, a food-processing initiative dedicated to producing high-quality, sustainable chocolate. The initiative has a long-term vision of supporting small-scale businesses and educating young entrepreneurs on value addition and sustainable enterprise development. Her interests extend to value chain development, particularly in integrating agriculture, aquaculture, and food processing to enhance food security and economic opportunities.
She is a graduate of Gambia College, School of Agriculture, and possesses strong leadership skills. An avid reader, Ndey Isatou continuously invests in personal growth and self-development; her love for reading has significantly strengthened her confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking abilities.
Currently, she serves as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, committed to supporting communities through the CorpsAfrica approach of asset-based community development and human-centered design. Her volunteer journey is grounded in humility, collaboration, and a firm belief that communities already possess the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to drive their own development.
Driven by service, sustainability, and community empowerment, Ndey Isatou Sowe remains dedicated to creating lasting, meaningful impact at the grassroots level.
