Biography
Edwin Tinega is a dedicated and adaptable professional specializing in disaster management, climate change, and humanitarian assistance. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Disaster Management and International Diplomacy and has earned professional certificates in Project Planning and Management, Gender and Human Rights, WASH in Emergencies, Counselling Psychology, and other specialized humanitarian and development fields.
Edwin has extensive experience working in the humanitarian sector. He served with the International Rescue Committee in Samburu County as a GBV Prevention Community Facilitator, where he provided psychosocial first aid, conducted community outreach and engagement, supported case management, and contributed to the development of IEC materials. He has also volunteered with the Kenya Red Cross, strengthening his skills in disaster management, humanitarian response, needs assessments, gender-based violence programming, and environmental conservation. During his industrial attachment with the county government, he contributed to disaster management, climate change initiatives, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution efforts.
His competencies span humanitarian assistance, disaster risk reduction, fire safety, conflict resolution, and project coordination, supported by strong stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills. Edwin has facilitated workshops on Gender-Based Violence, Peace, and Natural Resource Management and has participated in high-level conferences on Nature Based Solutions for Disaster Risk Reduction and global political issues.
Edwin also served as a CorpsAfrica/Kenya Volunteer (Cohort 3, 2024/2025) in Kamwathu Sublocation, Tharaka Nithi County, supporting community-led development and resilience building initiatives. He is a life member of the Kenya Red Cross and remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities.
