Biography
Betty Mariama Umeh is a committed CorpsAfrica/Gambia Volunteer with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and a strong passion for social work and community service. She served as the Deputy Welfare and Culture Minister of the University of The Gambia Students’ Union (UTGSU), where she played an active role in advocating for student welfare, promoting cultural inclusivity, and supporting initiatives that enhance student engagement and well-being.
In addition to her academic and leadership commitments, Betty is a part-time caterer, demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit and ability to balance multiple responsibilities effectively. She possesses excellent public speaking skills, which she has developed through active participation in conferences and platforms where she confidently shares ideas, engages audiences, and contributes to meaningful discussions.
Betty is recognized for her strong leadership abilities, resilience, and dedication to service. She is driven by a desire to create positive social impact and continues to grow as a young leader committed to empowering others and making a difference within and beyond the university and the communities.
