Claude UWIMANA was born and raised in Nyanza district, the Southern province of Rwanda. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental management from the University of Rwanda. He holds a different certificate mostly in community development, environmental sustainability, human-centered design, and community-led development. Before graduation, he conducted an internship in the land administration office in the Gasabo district. Claude is a Co-founder of Rwanda Youth Environmental Actors (RYEAs), an association aimed to raise awareness of environmental protection through the local community by local volunteers. In 2019, he joined Rwanda Youth Volunteers in community policing where he worked as an enumerator. Prior to joining CorpsAfrica, Claude was a volunteer in Kigali city to fight the spread of COVID-19 and mobilization to build a resilient community to pandemics. In 2021, he joined CorpsAfrica where he served as a Volunteer in the Musanze district, Musanze sector. He worked on different projects aimed to raise community lifestyle. He implemented the primary project of piggery farming where he served 50 poor families to create a source of income and add organic manure to their fields. Claude spent much time serving the community and he is eager to create a resilient community able to change. Due to the successful year in the Musanze district, he was extended another year serving the community in the Ngororero district, Ndaro sector. He is committed and motivated to serve in the rural mountain area of the district to give back to the community there and lift them up to the extent level. “So let us act now to slow climate change, feed the world’s hungry, and protect the planet that we all depend on.” UN chief 2021.
