Biography

Dahlak Wossen is an Environmental Science graduate from Hawassa University and a CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia Volunteer from Sekota, Ethiopia. Her journey has been shaped by a strong interest in environmental protection, community development, and service.

During her university years, Dahlak actively participated in student clubs, including the Art Club, where she developed her creativity while strengthening her communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. After graduating in 2024, she began her professional journey as an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Expert with the USAID Response Leadership Project at the Amhara Environmental Protection Authority. Although the project was later terminated, the experience gave her valuable practical insight into environmental protection and responsible development.

Dahlak then spent eight months serving as a Volunteer Community Facilitator in a rural community through the Helvetas Ethiopia ARCS Project. Working directly with community members strengthened her understanding of participatory development and deepened her skills in communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and community engagement.

Today, Dahlak continues this journey as a CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia Volunteer, working alongside communities and contributing her knowledge and skills to locally driven development. Beyond her academic and professional interests, she is passionate about poetry, which gives her a creative space to express her thoughts, experiences, and hopes.

Through her experiences, Dahlak has come to believe that learning is a continuous journey and that every opportunity to serve is also an opportunity to grow. She hopes to continue protecting the environment, supporting communities, and contributing to a more sustainable future.
