Biography

Widat Yussif is a Community Nutrition graduate from the University for Development Studies (UDS). Originally from Bawku in Ghana’s Upper East Region, she was born and raised in Wa in the Upper West Region. Growing up, Widat developed an interest in the health sector but wanted a career that would allow her to work beyond the hospital setting and engage directly with communities. This led her to pursue Community Nutrition, a field that offered opportunities to work both within health facilities and in the community.

After university, Widat completed internships before serving at the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Headquarters in Accra, where she worked in food safety and gained valuable experience in the field, particularly in engaging with and regulating food establishments.

Widat joined CorpsAfrica because she was drawn to the opportunity to explore new environments, learn, grow, and contribute to communities while discovering more about herself. She is currently serving as a Volunteer in Dwbor in the Central Region, where she looks forward to learning from community members and working alongside them to identify and build on their existing strengths and opportunities.

Outside of her professional interests, Widat enjoys travelling, baking, watching movies, meeting new people, and trying new things.
