Sue Stephenson, Retired Corporate and Non-Profit Executive | Active Pro-Bono Volunteer and Advocate

Originally from England, Sue relocated to the USA in 1991 to join The Ritz-Carlton. From 2000 to 2015, she reported to the company’s President and COO in two senior executive roles focused on expanding the company’s “Serve with Purpose” culture. While leading The Ritz-Carlton Global Human Resources division, Sue was focused on strengthening the company’s legendary commitment to employee engagement and service excellence. In her subsequent role, she led the integration of social impact strategies into the company’s service culture, business operations, and success metrics. In 2015, Sue co-founded IMPACT2030 initiative with The Ritz-Carlton as a Founding Partner. Anchored by SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, over a five-year period this collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships brought together 60 global companies to harness the skills, expertise and creativity of their employees as a force for good. Sue served as Interim CEO from July 2017 to January 2020. Sue is the founder of the Strategies for Service consultancy and, as a public speaker, has advised companies around the world on corporate citizenship and employee engagement strategies. Now retired, Sue is focusing her time on providing pro-bono support to the purpose-driven nonprofit organizations she is passionate about, including SustainChain and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women, and serves on the Advisory Councils of CorpsAfrica and the Knowledge Impact Network (KIN).
