At CorpsAfrica, transformation begins at the grassroots — led by young African changemakers dedicated to driving sustainable development in their communities. Two such remarkable Volunteers from the 2024–2025 Malawi cohort, Jean Nazimera and Harry Bvumbwe, are embodying this mission through community-led initiatives that reflect the power of empathy, innovation, and service.

Jean Nazimera is currently leading a goat pass-on project designed to tackle low-income generation in her community. With 46 beneficiaries identified, the project aims to create a stable livelihood through livestock farming. Beyond distribution, Jean has facilitated goat management training focused on nutrition, breeding, and shelter — equipping participants with practical knowledge to sustain their own development. Despite initial skepticism, Jean’s collaborative approach and commitment to impact are fostering optimism and long-term change.

Meanwhile, Harry Bvumbwe is spearheading the construction of an Under-5 clinic in Mphampha — a critical response to healthcare services currently being delivered under a tree. His project will provide a permanent, dignified space for immunizations, growth monitoring, and maternal consultations, directly benefiting over 600 children and mothers. Harry has also supported a caregiver training for early childhood development and a reusable pad-making initiative for girls, addressing menstrual health and school absenteeism.

Both Jean and Harry’s experiences highlight the transformative potential of Community-Led Development, where solutions emerge from within and are sustained by those they serve. Their leadership, resilience, and service-minded spirit underscore the broader vision of CorpsAfrica — that young Africans are not just the future, but the force shaping their communities today.
