Description

The Sura Koyo community has successfully renovated its kindergarten, ensuring a safer and more supportive learning environment for young children. Previously, classrooms were in poor condition, with broken floors, walls, windows, and doors that compromised safety and learning quality.
The project, identified and prioritized by the community, repaired two kindergarten rooms and additional classrooms, creating a clean and welcoming space for 395 kindergarteners and improving conditions for 1,240 students in total. Completed at a total cost of 333,067 ETB—with 25% contributed by the community in cash and materials, and the remainder funded by CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia—the renovation directly benefits 66 households and indirectly supports 661 individuals, extending its positive impact beyond the school. The improved facilities now provide children with a safe place to learn and grow, while boosting community pride and engagement in education.
This project was facilitated by Haymanot Tadesse in partnership with the Sura Koyo community, local authorities, and CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia.
