RES4Africa Foundation and CorpsAfrica have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their existing collaboration and expand opportunities for youth empowerment, community-driven development and sustainable energy access across Africa. Building on their shared commitment to inclusive and sustainable development, the agreement establishes a framework for cooperation in capacity building, entrepreneurship, knowledge exchange and locally led initiatives, with the aim of supporting a just energy transition that creates opportunities for African communities.
The partnership brings together RES4Africa’s expertise in renewable energy development, policy dialogue, advocacy and capacity building with CorpsAfrica’s experience in empowering young African volunteers to work alongside rural communities, identify local priorities and implement sustainable development solutions. By combining these complementary approaches, the two organisations aim to strengthen connections between energy-sector expertise and community-led development, ensuring that local perspectives, youth leadership and sustainable economic opportunities contribute to Africa’s energy transition.
The agreement builds on an established collaboration between RES4Africa and CorpsAfrica, including their joint engagement in the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Task Force, technical and vocational training activities in Morocco, the CorpsAfrica Green Fund Initiative and ongoing knowledge-sharing activities. These initiatives have already created opportunities to exchange expertise, support professional development and explore community-focused approaches to sustainable development.
Through the MoU, the organisations intend to consolidate these efforts while identifying new areas of cooperation. Capacity building and training will represent a key pillar of the partnership, with opportunities to develop technical, vocational, managerial and leadership programmes for volunteers, alumni and young professionals, including skills development related to renewable energy, sustainable development and climate action.
The collaboration will also explore initiatives supporting community-level renewable energy access, rural electrification and productive uses of energy, alongside youth entrepreneurship, innovation and resource mobilisation. Particular attention will be given to strengthening locally driven solutions, supporting green and inclusive development and encouraging the participation of young Africans in shaping sustainable economic opportunities.
Further areas of cooperation include research, knowledge sharing, joint publications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement, as well as participation in existing programmes and platforms. By connecting their respective networks and expertise, RES4Africa and CorpsAfrica aim to promote solutions that bridge institutional dialogue, technical knowledge and community-level action.
The agreement was signed by Roberto Vigotti, Secretary General of RES4Africa Foundation, and Dr. Samora Otieno, Chief Program Officer of CorpsAfrica.
“Advancing Africa’s energy transition requires not only investment and technical solutions, but also empowering young people and communities to become active participants in sustainable development,” commented Roberto Vigotti, Secretary General of RES4Africa Foundation. “Our collaboration with CorpsAfrica reflects this shared vision. By combining our expertise in renewable energy and capacity building with CorpsAfrica’s community-driven approach, we aim to strengthen local skills, encourage entrepreneurship and create opportunities for sustainable energy solutions that respond to the needs of African communities.”
“At CorpsAfrica, we believe that young people are the ultimate catalysts for sustainable change. This MoU with RES4Africa expands vital opportunities in training, green entrepreneurship, and rural energy access, empowering our Volunteers and alumni to be part of Africa’s just energy transition while creating green jobs and lasting impact for rural youth and women.” Stated Samora Otieno, Chief Program Officer at CorpsAfrica.
