At CorpsAfrica, we are once again entering the inspiring season of Pre-Service Training (PST), a transformative period where young people from across the African continent come together to begin their journey as CorpsAfrica Volunteers.

Tools that are needed to drive sustainable development in the communities they will serve and in their lives after they successfully complete their CorpsAfrica service. CorpsAfrica Volunteers dive deep into the organization’s model, as they explore and get integrated with the principles of Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), which form the foundation of CorpsAfrica’s sustainable development approach
As of August 2025, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Senegal, and Morocco are launching their Pre-Service Training (PST) sessions, with additional countries such as South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire, and The Gambia set to follow suit in October.
The 6-week foundational training introduces trainees to CorpsAfrica’s unique development approach and provides a comprehensive orientation through the Volunteer Handbook. A core feature of the training is the Innovators Campus; a problem-solving tool that empowers Volunteers and communities to work together in identifying challenges and designing practical, sustainable solutions.
The highlight of CorpsAfrica’s Pre-Service Training (PST) is the Community-Based Training (CBT). During this session the trainees live with host families in carefully selected rural communities, during this time the volunteers acquire an immersive experience that not only helps them integrate into community life but also allows them to practice tools like community mapping, apply the Innovators Campus principles, and build strong, trust-based relationships with community members.
This year, hundreds of young Africans will embark on this journey, serving either in their home countries or abroad as Exchange Volunteers after completing a year of service. Together, they represent the next generation of African leaders, committed to creating meaningful, community-driven change.
