CorpsAfrica Welcomes New Chief Program Officer

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Samora Otieno as the inaugural Chief Program Officer for CorpsAfrica, effective Sept 9, 2024.

Dr. Otieno brings an extensive and distinguished career in international development and organizational management and leadership having led impactful programs for organizations such as the International Rescue Committee, RefugePoint, UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and the Equity Group Foundation. He served as a Humanitarian and Health Advisor for FCDO as well as Health Advisor and Chair of the Council of Advisors in the Office of the Governor, Nairobi, Kenya. Samora previously also served as director of programs and country director in different international organizations. Additionally, Dr. Otieno has been a dedicated Board Member for RefugePoint over the past five years.

Dr. Otieno holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Nairobi and an MBA in Strategic Management from Daystar University.

In his role as Chief Program Officer, Dr. Otieno will provide strategic leadership and management of CorpsAfrica’s programmatic work across the African continent. We look forward to his leadership in advancing our mission to engage and train African youth to collaboratively work with rural communities to alleviate poverty, enhance livelihoods, increase resilience, and foster a pan-African network invested in volunteerism, entrepreneurship, and community-led development.
