Project Overview

The Sheep Rearing and Irrigation Dry-Season Farming Project (SRIDFP) was implemented in Zangbalung Yipelgu, Kumbungu District, to address seasonal income instability and limited livelihood opportunities. Through a community-led approach, 35 beneficiaries across five groups received sheep for breeding, while 18 farmers across two groups gained access to irrigation pumps, pipes, and training to support dry-season vegetable farming. The project combined livestock rearing with irrigation-based agriculture to promote income generation, strengthen food security, and build resilient livelihoods. With community contributions, beneficiary training, and a sustainability plan overseen by a project committee, the initiative aims to create lasting economic opportunities for households in the community.

Support Our Work

CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: engaging youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty. We recruit and train motivated volunteers to live and work in rural, under-resourced areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and, by doing so, gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.

CorpsAfrica trusts youth and communities to help each other.
