Strengthening Regional Ties, Employability, and Entrepreneurship
On August 22, 2026, CorpsAfrica brought together 50 Alumni from Senegal and The Gambia in Thiès, Senegal, for a Regional Alumni Conference focused on strengthening regional ties, employability, and entrepreneurship.
The conference created an opportunity for 40 Senegalese Alumni and 10 Gambian Alumni to reconnect, exchange experiences, and build relationships across borders. CorpsAfrica Volunteers and network leadership also joined the gathering, creating a space for current Volunteers to learn from Alumni who have navigated life and careers after service.
The day opened with remarks from CorpsAfrica leadership and partners, including an introduction to CorpsAfrica’s new global strategy for supporting Alumni. The program highlighted the growing role of the Alumni Network in creating opportunities for professional development, entrepreneurship, and continued engagement with CorpsAfrica.
A central panel, “Navigating Post-Service Pathways: Lessons, Challenges, and Achievements,” featured Alumni sharing their experiences across three areas: entrepreneurship, education, and employment. Their stories offered practical insight into the transition from service and demonstrated how the skills, relationships, and experiences gained through CorpsAfrica can contribute to meaningful career pathways.
In the afternoon, participants chose between two hands-on workshops. The entrepreneurship session explored cross-border business opportunities along the Senegal-Gambia corridor, access to seed funding, pitch development, and local startup ecosystems. The job-seeking workshop focused on practical skills including CV optimization, personal branding, navigating changing job markets, and preparing for remote work.
The conference also featured Alumni success stories, allowing participants to hear directly from peers about their journeys after CorpsAfrica service.
More than a professional development event, the conference strengthened connections between Alumni across two neighboring countries and reinforced the value of a regional network built on shared experiences, collaboration, and continued learning.
By bringing Senegalese and Gambian Alumni together, CorpsAfrica continues to create opportunities for its growing Alumni Network to connect, collaborate, and contribute to development long after their Volunteer service ends.
