CorpsAfrica celebrated a new chapter in its community development programme during a swearing-in and Close of Service ceremony at Killarney Country Club on October 15.

Cheers and applause filled the venue as volunteers received their certificates. The event celebrated outgoing volunteers and welcomed incoming Cohort Three volunteers as they prepared to serve communities across South Africa.

Addressing the graduates, veteran broadcaster and communications specialist Dan Moyane reflected on his decades-long career and challenged the young volunteers to consider how they could use their opportunities and knowledge to benefit others.

“Who is benefiting from all of this?” he asked, reflecting on the experience and opportunities he had gained throughout his career.

Moyane reminded the volunteers that their placements would be an opportunity not only to contribute but also to learn from the people they encountered.

“I could see why this experience might change the volunteer as much as it benefits the community,” Moyane said.

Support Our Work

CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: engaging youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty. We recruit and train motivated volunteers to live and work in rural, under-resourced areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and, by doing so, gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.

CorpsAfrica trusts youth and communities to help each other.
