The Koite community in Faragosa Kebele has successfully built a new library to enhance learning opportunities and promote literacy for students at Koite Primary School. Previously, students had limited access to books and study spaces, hindering their ability to learn and explore knowledge outside the classroom.
The project, identified and prioritized by the community, established a fully equipped library that now supports 471 students directly and extends its impact to 460 households and 1,840 individuals in the surrounding community. The library includes bookshelves, furniture, study areas, and a child-friendly section designed to encourage early reading and create a culture of learning from a young age. Completed with a total cost of 339,000 ETB—with 25% contributed by the community through labor, materials, and money, and the remainder covered by external partners—the project has created a vibrant and inclusive center for education and literacy.
This project was facilitated by Eskinder Birhanu in partnership with the Koite community, local authorities, and CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia.
