Perseverance Leads to Success

My journey as a CorpsAfrica Volunteer taught me a lesson that I carry in my heart every day. Perseverance can transform doubt into hope. When I began looking for young people to form a new youth group, the journey was difficult and exhausting. Many youths were hesitant and discouraged by past experiences. Some doubted whether real change was even possible. At times, I felt alone in this vision. Conversations ended in silence, meetings were postponed, and progress felt very slow. There were moments when I questioned myself. Still, deep inside, I believed that the youth deserved something better.

So I stayed. I listened. I kept showing up. I patiently shared the vision again and again, even when it seemed like no one was ready to believe in it.

Gradually, hearts began to open. Trust started to replace doubt. What once seemed impossible slowly began to take shape. Through persistence and faith, the Intagamburuzwa Youth Group was born.

Today, Intagamburuzwa is more than just a group. It is a source of hope. Young people who once felt powerless are now working together to build kitchen gardens that nourish their families. They are practicing saving habits that secure their future and starting small economic activities that restore dignity and self reliance. Laughter, commitment, and purpose now fill the space where uncertainty once existed.

This journey reminded me that real change takes time. It is emotional and deeply human. It requires patience when progress is invisible, courage when doubt becomes loud, and belief when others have none. Intagamburuzwa stands as proof that when you refuse to give up on people, they eventually rise. When youth are trusted and empowered, they can transform their community.

Support Our Work

CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: engaging youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty. We recruit and train motivated volunteers to live and work in rural, under-resourced areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and, by doing so, gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.

CorpsAfrica trusts youth and communities to help each other.
