Ethiopia
Est. 2023

Founded in 2023 with support from the Mastercard Foundation, CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia is dedicated to empowering communities through youth-led initiatives. Ethiopia, often called the “Cradle of Humanity”, is a country with a rich and ancient history, home to some of the earliest human remains ever discovered. Located in the Horn of Africa, it is one of the continent’s most diverse nations, with a wide mix of cultures, languages, and religions. As Africa’s second most populous country, Ethiopia has a predominantly young population, many of whom face high levels of unemployment.

CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia is shifting Ethiopia’s development sector from reliance on external aid to empowering and strengthening its most valuable asset: its people. CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia educates young Africans to help local communities identify and solve their challenges.

Through the program, Volunteers receive intensive training before living and working in rural villages for up to a year. During this time, they collaborate with residents to design and implement small-scale, high-impact projects driven by local priorities. The experience not only creates tangible improvements in the community but also fosters personal and professional growth for the Volunteers, creating new employment opportunities and fostering a strong spirit of pan-African unity.

Volunteer in Ethiopia

CorpsAfrica recruits ambitious young people to apply their education, build their critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and learn more about their countries and about themselves. They facilitate small-scale, high-impact projects identified by local community members, to fulfill key needs.

Applications for 2025-2026 Volunteer service are closed.

Support Our Work

CorpsAfrica addresses two of Africa’s most difficult challenges: engaging youth and helping rural communities overcome extreme poverty. We recruit and train motivated volunteers to live and work in rural, under-resourced areas in their own countries. They collaborate with the community to design and implement small-scale projects that address their top priorities and, by doing so, gain the skills and experience that lay the foundation for personal and professional success.

CorpsAfrica trusts youth and communities to help each other.
