Description

The Tora Wulisho Elementary School in Selepee Village has been successfully renovated to provide a safer and more conducive environment for learning. Previously, the school faced significant challenges, with leaking roofs, broken floors, and damaged windows and doors compromising both safety and the quality of education.
The project, identified and prioritized by the community, involved repairing and repainting the classrooms to create a welcoming and functional space for students. Completed with a total cost of 418,880 ETB—with 25% contributed by the community through labor and materials, and the remaining support provided by CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia—the renovation directly benefits 11 households and indirectly supports 60 individuals, while also improving the learning environment for 803 students. By restoring the classrooms, the project has boosted student morale, enhanced safety, and contributed to better academic performance.
This project was facilitated by Edith Nyawira in partnership with the Tora Wulisho community, local authorities, and CorpsAfrica/Ethiopia.
