In December 2015, CorpsAfrica Founder and CEO Liz Fanning and Hiba Tazi, a member of the first CorpsAfrica/Maroc Volunteer cohort, presented the CorpsAfrica model to members of the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco.
The podcast, CorpsAfrica: Peace Corps for Africans, introduced the organization’s approach to locally led development, giving educated young Africans the opportunity to serve in their own countries while working alongside rural communities to identify priorities, connect with resources, and develop community-driven solutions.
For Volunteers, the experience offers opportunities for personal and professional growth while building a deeper understanding of the communities they serve. For communities, it creates space for local leadership and locally identified development priorities to guide the work.
Today, Hiba continues her journey with CorpsAfrica as a member of the Board of Directors, reflecting the enduring connections between the organization and its Alumni.
