Project Overview

The Youth and Women-Led Poultry Farming Project in Gututo Kebele targets high youth unemployment and low household income in Southern Ethiopia. Using Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), community members chose poultry farming for its market demand and low start-up costs. The project will benefit 15 participants (11 women and 4 men) who will rehabilitate a poultry house, receive training in poultry management and business skills, and start production within 12 weeks. With a budget of 299,386 ETB, including 24.8% community contribution, the project aims for a 30% income increase in one year, improved financial skills, and a sustainable management structure. It seeks to create a replicable model for women and youth empowerment through reinvestment and mentorship.
