Project Overview

The Youth-Led Bread-Making Project in Chano Dorga, Southern Ethiopia endeavors to address youth unemployment through community-driven initiatives. By employing Human-Centered Design and Asset-Based Community Development methodologies, the community identified bread making as a viable venture due to its market demand and low start-up costs. This project will engage eight young participants who will renovate a local bread-making facility and receive comprehensive training in production, hygiene, and business management. Spanning a four-week period, the project is supported by a budget of 300,000 ETB, with 25% contributed by the community, underscoring local ownership. Anticipated outcomes include a 30% increase in participant income, enhanced business acumen, improved accessibility to affordable bread, and the establishment of a sustainable management structure. The initiative aspires to create a replicable model for youth economic empowerment within the region.
