Project Overview

The Youth-Led Poultry Farming Project in Koda Kebele, Chena Woreda, aims to combat youth unemployment and low household income through poultry farming. Using Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approaches, the community chose poultry farming for its low cost and local demand. The project will involve 7 youth beneficiaries who will rehabilitate a house, receive training in poultry husbandry and business management, and start egg production with 300 day-old chicks. The 12-week plan includes youth group formation, training, and market access, with a budget of 298,410 ETB (25% from the community). Expected outcomes are increased youth income, enhanced skills, a functional youth cooperative, and a sustainable poultry enterprise model for economic empowerment.
